Description
Scale model of the European Ariane 5 rocket
Details were slightly changed and simplified for better printing.
Model is divided into 5 objects (8 parts). No supports needed!
All connections are designed to fight tightly. No glue is required .
Original height of the whole rocket is 315 mm (31.5cm). The tallest object is the middle part (blue) with a height of 165 mm.
The whole model has 245094 Polygons. The maximum circular segment division is 89 for smooth surfaces.
The middle part and the upper stage are hollow with a wall thickness of 1.6 mm. This enables most printers to print quite quickly but still gives a sturdy hull.
The model on the photos was printed on an Anycubic Mega S.
Assembly:
- Print out all 8 parts (bottom of the boosters 2x, cubic bolts 3x)
- Sand down the cubic bolts (green) slightly and carfully until they fit tightly (Don´t over do!) and press them into the square openings of the main engine (white) and the two bottom booster part (red)
- Now press main engine and booster bottoms with their bolts into the square openings of the middle part (blue). Caution: the booster bottoms are identical but one of them must be turned around to match with the middle part correctly.
- Rub the inner side of the upper stage (yellow) clean with Your fingers or maybe sand paper (Don´t over do! - tight fit!)
- Put the upper stage (yellow) onto the middle part (blue)
Maybe I will design a nice display stand for the rocket soon. Any ideas?
