Bell UH-1B Iroquois V02 US Army Cav The Bell UH-1B Iroquois “Huey” is a single-engine turbine-powered utility and medivac helicopter designed and first buoilt in the mid 1950s and developed for the US Army. It first entered into production in 1960 and served throughout the Vietnam War and beyond. These helicopters were used in combat to deliver troops and medivac wounded while under fire. Some were modified and equiped with mounted 50 caliber machine guns, 2.75 inch rockets, and other weapons for gunships to support troop transports and medivac Hueys until the first appearance of the Bell AH-1 Cobra helicopter gunship. Over 17000 were built for the military in the US during the 1960s. The UH-1B was one of the first versions of the Huey, however many follow on improved versions of this helicopter were built and some are still in use and production. This helicopter could carry up to ten troops or 5 or 6 wounded soldiers.
