Agadir is the capital of the prefecture of Agadir-Ido-U-Tanan in the southern part of the Atlantic coast of Morocco in the foothills of the Anti-Atlas range. This resort town is known for its golf courses, wide crescent-shaped beach and promenade lined with cafes, restaurants and bars. The fortress of Agadir, located on a hilltop, was destroyed in 1960 as a result of an earthquake, but one of its walls has survived to this day.
