Algiers is a country in North Africa, located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert. Various empires have left their mark here. Roman ruins can be seen in the coastal town of Tipaza. In the capital of the country, the city of Algiers, monuments from the times of the Ottoman Empire have been preserved, such as the Ketshava mosque of 1612 in the mountainous Kasbah quarter with narrow streets and stairs. The neo-Byzantine style Cathedral of Our Lady of Africa recalls that there was once a French colony here.
