Magdeburg is a city in central Germany, on the banks of the Elbe River. In its center stands a Gothic cathedral where Otto I the Great, Holy Roman Emperor, is buried. You can learn about the medieval past of the city by visiting the exhibitions of the Cultural and Historical Museum dedicated to archeology and local history. On the territory of the monastery of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Romanesque style, there is a gallery of modern art and a park with sculptures.
