Montreal is the largest city in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is located on an island at the confluence of the St. Lawrence and Ottawa rivers and is named after the three-headed mountain Mont Royal, which lies in the center of the city. Montreal's most famous neighborhoods, many of which were once separate cities, are bohemian Plateau Mont-Royal and French colonial Old Montreal, with its neo-Gothic-style Notre-Dame de Montreal basilica and cobblestone streets.
