Wiesbaden is the capital of the federal state of Hesse in western Germany. Among the main attractions of the city is the neoclassical kursaal, which now houses a conference center and a casino. Nearby is the English-style Resort Park founded in 1852. The red Neo-Gothic Market Church rises on Palace Square, and next to it is the former ducal palace, which now houses the state parliament. In the Wiesbaden Museum you can see paintings by the expressionist Alexei von Jawlensky and exhibitions dedicated to natural history
