After the War of Greed, which swept through the entire solar system like a fiery hurricane and brought down the entire space economy of mankind, there was an urgent need to quickly produce a huge number of cheap and easy-to-operate transport ships, relying only on the surviving production facilities of the Empire and the expertise of the few remaining loyal Corporations. The result of this collaboration was a project with a not very romantic, but quite appropriate name Dromedary. Severe post-war restrictions led to a technical downgrade not only of this, but of many subsequent engineering projects, especially in the field of propulsion systems. In particular, it was decided to abandon the already standard fusion propulsion system, returning to the now obsolete fission system, making all kinds of improvements and modifications to it in the process.The second and perhaps more important element of the «Dromedary» project was the development of its advanced nuclear engine. Although it was still inferior to the fusion engines in many ways, especially in terms of compactness and fuel efficiency, this engine was nevertheless based on well-developed, well-studied and time-tested technology, which made it possible to create a fairly simple, reliable and powerful engine. Simplicity and a relatively low technological level also made it possible to quickly establish mass production in the shortest possible time. So, despite its obvious inherent shortcomings, this system not only fulfilled its role and allowed to reanimate the space economy, but also earned universal recognition among free entrepreneurs and the title of people's engine. He earned special love for his reliability and long range, allowing the ship to travel throughout the solar system without frequent refueling.Be that as it may, as a result of this forced collaboration of the once warring parties, one of the most successful designs of a civilian cargo ship was created.
