  • Description

Daeodon was a massive, prehistoric pig-like mammal that lived during the Late Oligocene to Early Miocene epochs, around 29 to 19 million years ago. It belonged to a group called entelodonts, often referred to as hell pigs due to their fearsome appearance. Daeodon stood about 1.8 meters (6 feet) tall at the shoulder and had a robust, muscular body with a large, long skull filled with sharp teeth, indicating it was an omnivore, likely feeding on plants, carrion, and possibly even hunting. Fossils of Daeodon have been found in North America, and its size and predatory traits suggest it was a dominant force in its ancient ecosystem.
