In 1964, on the basis of the RAF-977D “Latvia” minibus, a 1-ton delivery van of the RAF-977K was created at the Riga Bus Factory. The limited production capacity of the RAF did not allow them to expand their serial production at that time, and it was transferred to YerAZ. The model, historically belonging to the 1960s, was produced in Yerevan until 1996, despite its archaic nature, since light-duty vans were extremely in demand by the national economy. In fact, over the 30-year history of production, the plant's products were modernized slightly.
