The F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) version of the F-35 Lightning II. It is in service with the US Marine Corp, Royal Air Force, Japanese Self Defence Forces and Italian Airforce. This is the version operated by the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force
