The Ferrari F40 is a supercar with a centrally located engine and rear-wheel drive. This two-door coupe was produced from 1987 to 1992 as the successor to the Ferrari 288 GTO. At the time, it was the fastest, most powerful and most expensive Ferrari road car. From 1987 to 1989, the Ferrari F40 held the title of the world's fastest production road car, and was the fastest, most powerful and most expensive Ferrari car during its production. The car debuted with a suggested retail price of around $400,000, although some buyers reportedly paid as much as $1.6 million. A total of 1,315 cars were produced.
