The Wechselapparat, abbreviated as Wex, is a flame thrower invented by the German army in 1917. Created to replace the old Kleif (Kleinflammenwerfer, small flame thrower), it had a toric fuel tank with a spherical fuel tank in the middle. The toroidal shape of the tanks was copied by the British during the Second World War with the No. 2 portable flame thrower.
