The Hampshire House is a 469ft (143m) tall skyscraper in New York City. Situated directly on the southern edge of Manhattan's Central Park, the building stands in an exceptionally prominent location. Its many setbacks, typical of the era, and its large pyramidal copper roof make it a widely recognized landmark of the city. The building, whose style may be roughly described as French-Renaissance Revival with several other classical ornaments, was completed in 1938. The building's design, by Caughey & Evans, was inspired by the nearby Savoy Plaza Hotel, which has since been demolished.
