Concept & Reference Gathering
Before moving into design, I explored various retro and modern JDM racing liveries—especially those tied to everyday Japanese brands. The goal was to create something instantly recognizable yet visually bold, inspired by classic touring cars and the convenience store culture deeply embedded in Japan’s urban identity.
3D Base & Car Setup in Blender
Model Preparation:Using a clean Honda NSX base mesh, I optimized the geometry and ensured clean UVs for a seamless wrap. Subdivision and proper shading setup were done to retain sharpness while keeping the model render-friendly.
Camera & Scene:A bright, high-saturation studio setup was chosen to make the FamilyMart color palette pop. The orange background contrasts the cool tones of the livery, giving the render a striking, advertisement-like energy.
Livery Design in Photoshop / Substance
Theme & Visual Direction:Titled “Your Daily Stop”, the design celebrates the iconic FamilyMart identity, reimagined as a full-blown GT-style racing livery. The mix of green, blue, and white reflects the brand’s friendly look, while racing typography and sponsor decals give it a competitive edge.
Design Workflow:The layout was built in layers—starting with FamilyMart’s signature color bands, followed by sponsor placements, number plates, and racing motifs. Special attention was given to flow across the NSX’s sharp mid-engine proportions to maintain rhythm and visual balance.
Typography & Details:
FamilyMart’s logo and tagline “Your Daily Stop” anchor the design.
The racing number 22 ties it to GT aesthetics.
Michelin and Brembo decals add realism and motorsport credibility.
UV Unwrapping & Projection
The NSX body was unwrapped with precision to ensure alignment across curved surfaces. Graphics were projected and adjusted to prevent stretching—especially around the front fenders and door seams.
Final Touches & Rendering
Rendered in Blender Cycles, the final scene combines glossy reflections and subtle paint roughness to evoke a realistic race-ready finish. Post-processing was kept minimal to preserve the clean, vibrant aesthetic and let the livery’s colors speak for themselves.
