Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and self-defense system developed in Brazil. It focuses mainly on hand-to-hand fighting on the ground, using dislocations, strangulations, immobilizations and takedowns. The main objective of Brazilian jiu-jitsu is to subdue the opponent by dislocation or strangulation without the use of strikes, hence it is sometimes referred to as a soft art.
