“War Rapier,” South German Lands, 1600. The overall length of the weapon is 1075 mm. The blade is straight, steel, double-edged, fairly massive, tapering sharply to a distinct point. The blade is diamond-shaped in cross-section, without fullers. The ricasso is somewhat narrower than the blade. The hilt is swept hilt. The cross-guard consists of an S-shaped cross-guard curved in the plane of the blade, two loops for a finger grip, and a system of parrying loops and half-rings. The hilt, with spiral grooves, is wrapped in twisted copper alloy wire, held in place by two braided wire ferrules. The pommel is shaped like a fishtail and has a lanyard hole.
