Entering Constanța Port through the main access gate, you can't help but notice the impressive building of the Maritime Station. Built between 1931 and 1933 according to the plans of architect Gheorghe Brătescu, the Maritime Station was inaugurated on August 15, 1934, on Romanian Navy Day, in the presence of King Carol II. The need to build such an edifice was imposed, at the time, due to the explosive growth of port activity, both for the traffic of goods and for people. Thus, the travelers arriving by water, in Constanța, were to be greeted by the majestic building, which together with the silos built by Eng. Anghel Saligny, represented the pride of the country's largest port.

From the Maritime Station you could go directly by ship to Constantinople, Alexandria, Piraeus, Naples, Marseille or New York or by train to Bucharest.
