UPDATE 2024-10-08: fixed some animation issues in the fbx.

Low-poly historical accurate reconstruction of a drawbridge with lifting arms (gaffs) and counterweights mechanism for castle or town gates. This form was very common from the 14th century onwards. Due to the counterweight, the bridge can be operated by only one person, by pulling or releasing a rope attached to its end. The arms or gaffs fit in slits in the outer wall, when the bridge is lifted.

The file includes:

  • Gate house wall section including an upper level floor segment
  • Wooden drawbridge with metal fittings, hinges, chains and gaffs with counterweight
  • Opening and closing animation

Polys/Verts

  • Wall segment with gate, corbels, etc. (580/638)
  • Drawbridge (3,346/4,538)
  • Gaffs with counterweight (1,658/2,133)
  • Each chain (2,568/2,592)
