MOSAP (MObile Surface APplication) was a pressurized lunar rover proposed as part of NASA's late-1980s Lunar Base Systems Study. LBSS was an early concept study, to serve as a starting point for actually developing a crewed lunar return program. The study work was carried out by the now-defunct Eagle Engineering Incorporated
MOSAP was a major element of this concept. It was designed to support astronauts on excursions of up to two weeks away from the main base. To avoid astronauts needing to don EVA suits to transfer between landers and the long-duration habitat, MOSAP was capable of docking directly to both, and would taxi astronauts between them. It could also be configured for long exploratory traverses, pulling a train of equipment and scientific experiment trailers behind it. Similar trailers would also be used to haul equipment during base construction, such as habitat modules, cranes, and bulldozers. Other notable features of MOSAP include a pair of robotic arms at its front (which could be used to collect samples without needing a person to perform an EVA), and a glass cupola on top providing 360-degree visibility from an elevated vantage point
