The Chimera, in Greek mythology, is a formidable beast composed of parts from different animals: a lion’s head and body, a goat’s head on its back, and a serpent for a tail. This terrifying creature was known to breathe fire, devastating towns and fields. Considered an omen of natural disaster, the Chimera was slain by the hero Bellerophon. Its name has since become synonymous with any hybrid creature or impossible fantasy concept.
