Description

This 5-inch quadrotor 3d printable frame was designed using the structural topology optimization technique resulting in a frame with very high stiffness and strength with very low weight. When printed using standard PLA (solid infill) the weight is 69 grams and can easily support the weight of a person. The provided stress analysis image shows that the maximum stress under 1 kg (2.2 lbs) loading is 167 times less than the yield strength of PLA. This means that in ideal conditions the maximum loading that the structure can support is 167 kg (368 lbs) which is well above a standard person's weight. The part has been tested by printing on Prussa i3 Mk3s using standard PLA with 0.15mm Quality and 100% infill settings. It did not break at 200 lbs loading condition.
