The statue of Ovidius Publius Naso located in the current Piață Ovidiu in Constanța (Independence Square until 1947) is the first of the statues built in Dobrogea after the annexation of the historical province to Greater Romania.

The work of the Italian sculptor Ettore Ferrari, the bronze statue depicting the poet Ovid in a meditative posture was unveiled in August 1887.

The 2.60 meter high statue is placed on a stone plinth on which are inscribed the verses of the Romanian poet exiled to Tomis:
