The public seating system is a compelling study due to the versatility that it might embody to make it optimally practical. The Fan Bench by Wang Chunyu is a clever concept that was born from thinking outside of the box.

The designer would not be content to have his multi-person perch strictly positioned in a small designated area of a floor or an outdoor plaza. This arrangement would allow for zero adaptability should the program of that space change, even temporarily.

An ingenious solution was conceived that bases the long backless chair around a fixed anchor. Not one, but three separate fins can rotate around this axis, instantly offering three times the seating by necessity. The Fan Bench by Wang Chunyu would be brilliant for installation in art galleries and museums.
