The Scutum
The Scutum (in respect with this 3D asset) is a large shield variant used by the Roman military. Originally an oblong and convex shield, it has developed into a large rectangular and semi-cylindrical shield, and built with multiple layers of wood for maximum defense. Though their somewhat large size may hamper mobility, they are most effective in close formations with other soldiers carrying the scutum, similar to the Greek Phalanx.
