The Sovremenny-class guided-missile destroyer is the Russian Navy’s primary anti-surface and anti-aircraft combat ship.
A total of 18 vessels were built for the Russian Navy, with three additional ships constructed for the People’s Liberation Army Navy (China).
The class has a maximum displacement of 8,480 tons, with dimensions of 156 m in length, 17.3 m beam, and 6.5 m draught. Its armament includes an anti-submarine helicopter, 48 surface-to-air missiles, 8 anti-ship missiles, torpedoes, naval mines, long-range guns, and an advanced electronic warfare suite.
