The Punisher (Frank Castle) is a fictional character, an anti-hero, who appears in the comic books published by Marvel Comics.

The Punisher is an Italian-American vigilante who uses murder, espionage, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, violent threats and torture in his war on crime. Driven by the deaths of his wife and children during an American Mafia shooting in Central Park, New York, the Punisher moves into a one-man war against the mafia and all criminals using all manner of war weaponry. [note 1] His family's killers were his first victims. A veteran of the US Marine Corps, Castle is a master of martial arts, infiltration tactics, guerrillas and a wide variety of weapons.
