3D model descriptionThis 1:16 scale 3D printable model of the Thornycroft 55ft Coastal Motor Boat combines historical character with modern builder-focused engineering. The package includes over 160 high-poly STL files along with a full-color 3MF file for easier part identification and printing workflow. The hull is intelligently color-separated, allowing builders to print upper and lower sections in different filaments for a clean, paint-free finish if desired. Multiple configuration options are included—alternative captain’s bridge layouts, torpedo arrangements, and gunnery setups—so the builder can choose between historically faithful configurations or create a more personalized interpretation.

3D printing settingsDesigned from the outset as an RC-ready platform, the model features internal compartments, integrated assembly bosses, motor mounts, and a propeller shaft tube channel with a 6.9 mm bore plus an additional 1.25 mm support collar to accommodate thinner tubes. Thicker shaft tubes can easily be used by carefully widening the bore. The top three hull sections open completely to provide full interior access during installation and maintenance, while the boat’s original large deck hatch is fully operational for quick battery changes and system checks. Hull components are straightforward to print and align, making the overall build process surprisingly simple despite the level of detail. Builders may keep the configuration clean and minimal or take advantage of the supplied accessories to create a richly detailed and historically convincing fast attack craft
