Hair_spline is in box mode to avoid slowing down the interface. If you want to see the splines, select hair_spline, right-click and choose object properties from the drop-down menu, and uncheck the display as box option. If the hair is not scaled correctly, go to the Hair and Fur settings, open the tool rollout, activate Recomb From Splines, and specify spline_hair to adjust the hair to the correct size. If the size is correct, you can delete hair_spline. Before rendering, go to the Rendering - Effects tab, click on Hair and Fur, and select the mr prim mode below.
