The exterior design of the new observatory makes it appear even more majestic and spectacular, with an additional floor added beneath the astronomical dome on the foundation of the original meteorological observatory. Over the past few years, more than a dozen doctoral and postdoctoral students from top American universities such as Harvard and MIT have emerged from this white octagonal tower. In just a few short years, Tsinghua's astrophysics has surpassed many schools with a long history of astronomical research in evaluations, ranking among the top.
