An ancient Chinese seismograph was a bronze vessel designed to detect earthquakes. Created in 132 CE by Zhang Heng, it featured dragon heads holding balls. When seismic activity occurred, a ball dropped into a frog-shaped base, indicating the direction of the tremor. It is one of the earliest known devices used for earthquake detection.
