  • Description

Carcharodontosaurus was a massive, carnivorous theropod dinosaur that lived during the mid-Cretaceous period, approximately 100 to 93 million years ago. It was one of the largest predatory dinosaurs, measuring up to 13 meters (43 feet) in length and weighing around 6–8 tons. Its name, meaning shark-toothed lizard, comes from its serrated teeth, which were similar to those of a great white shark and ideal for slicing through flesh. Carcharodontosaurus had a long, powerful skull and strong jaws, making it an apex predator in the ecosystems of North Africa. Fossils of this dinosaur have been discovered in countries like Egypt and Morocco, highlighting its dominance in a region rich in diverse prehistoric life.
