  • Description

Edmontosaurus annectens was a large, herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 70 to 66 million years ago. As a member of the hadrosaur family, often known as duck-billed dinosaurs, Edmontosaurus annectens was capable of both bipedal and quadrupedal movement. It grew up to 12 meters (39 feet) in length and had a broad, flat snout ideal for grazing on plants. Fossilized skin impressions reveal that it had a scaly hide, and some fossils have shown possible evidence of a soft tissue crest on its head. Known from fossils found in North America, particularly in areas of present-day Canada and the United States, Edmontosaurus annectens is one of the best-documented dinosaurs of its time.
