The Jawa 50 type 23 Mustang motorcycle was created in 1968 as the last series-produced model of the Pioneers. Its development took place after market research, when the need to approach the design of the pioneer to a classic motorcycle became apparent. Since the construction of a new motorcycle, including testing, takes several years and would require considerable investment, it was decided to use the component base of the concurrently produced pioneer. The creators were inspired by an Italian manufacturer that was already selling a motorcycle with the corresponding parameters built on the Jawa 50 chassis. The Mustang was supposed to be a mere diversification of the offer until the production of the new advanced type of the 50s was introduced. However, the regime had other intentions with production, and neither the Mustang nor the Pionýr received a worthy replacement. In 1982, this model ended motorcycle production and remained a sad reminder of the bygone glory of motorcycle production at Považské Strojárny.
