The MiG-29 (NATO reporting name: "Fulcrum") is a jet fighter aircraft designed in the Soviet Union as an air superiority fighter during the 1970s. The MiG-29 was developed to counter new American fighters such as the F-15 Eagle and the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The MiG-29 entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1983.
At the beginning of the 90s 85th GvIAP (Guards) was based in Merseburg in East Germany. After German reunification the unit relocated to the Soviet Union at Starokonstantinov AB. The model is painted in one of the many variation of the standard scheme, the Guards emblem and the "Excellence" badge. It has an A/A payload consisting of R-73 (Archer) and R-27 (Alamo).
