  • Description

Parasaurolophus was a large, herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 76 to 73 million years ago. It belonged to the hadrosaur family, often called “duck-billed dinosaurs.” Parasaurolophus is most famous for its long, backward-curving cranial crest, which may have been used for communication, display, and possibly thermoregulation. It could reach lengths of up to 10 meters (33 feet) and likely roamed in herds, feeding on plants and moving between forested and open environments. Fossils of Parasaurolophus have been found in North America, particularly in regions of Canada and the United States.
