  • Description

Utahraptor was a large, feathered dromaeosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, about 135 to 125 million years ago. It was one of the largest raptors, measuring up to 7 meters (23 feet) in length and weighing around 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds). Utahraptor had powerful legs, a stiff tail for balance, and the iconic sickle-shaped claw on each foot, which it used for hunting and gripping prey. Its robust build and sharp teeth made it a formidable predator, likely capable of taking down large herbivores. Fossils of Utahraptor have been found in North America, primarily in Utah, where it gets its name. Evidence suggests it may have hunted in packs, making it one of the top predators in its ecosystem.
