Chechuga is a type of saber of eastern origin, which in the 17th-18th centuries gained some distribution in Central and Eastern Europe, in particular in Poland, Ukraine and, possibly, in the Russian kingdom. The Polish name czeczuga comes from the name of the Dniester fish species, with which the sabers had some external resemblance.
