  • Description

The Diamond DA-20 is a two seat low wing tricycle landing gear general aviation aircraft designed and used for flight training and personal air travel.

The DA-20 was originally produced with a Rotax engine but later models were powered with the Continental O-240-B engine. The Katana is intended to compete with the Cessna 150 and provides a similar role. It is constructed using composites and has a higher cruising speed than the Cessna 150. It also has a bubble canopy affording great visibility for the pilots. Cockpit temperature can be higher than the Cessna 150 as the bubble canopy acts as a greenhouse. There is provision for ventilation of either side of the canopy to help this problem.

The Katana also has a glide ratio of 11:1 or 14:1 depending on model and comparing that with the Cessna 150 with a 7:1 glide ratio, the Katana is a hands down winner. The Katana also offers the Aspen Avionics glass cockpit for the pilots as a primary feature.

This model is built near to scale, fully textured, includes materials and textures as shown, and features many animatable parts. The propeller, flaps, ailerons, elevators, rudder and canopy are all animatable. The cockpit has a glass instrument panel similar to the Aspen glass cockpit. This model is available in many formats for your immediate download.
