Brief information: Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf. J - Continued development of the concept of a reconnaissance tank led to the creation of a model with increased armor. The model used the same concept as the PzKpfw I Ausf. F and received the designation VK 16.01. This model had reinforced armor - up to 80 mm of frontal armor, 50 mm on the sides and aft, 25 mm of roof and bottom armor. The mass of the machine has increased, respectively, to 18 tons. Since the same engine was installed on the car as on the PzKpfw I Ausf. F (Maybach HL 45 P), then the speed decreased to 31 km/h. The main gun was a 20 mm KwK 38 L/55 cannon.
