The Škorpion vz. 68 was a prototype submachine gun developed in the late 1960s in Czechoslovakia as a more powerful evolution of the Škorpion vz. 61. Designed to fire the 9×19 mm Parabellum cartridge, it retained the compact layout and telescoping bolt system of the earlier Skorpion but used a heavier bolt and reinforced receiver to handle the stronger ammunition. Like the vz.61, it operated with a simple blowback mechanism and included a rate-reducing device in the grip to keep the cyclic rate controllable. The weapon was intended to provide a compact automatic firearm with greater stopping power for military and security forces, but only a small number of prototypes were produced and it never entered mass production or official service.
