Au cours de l'hiver 1942-1943, le T-34 est engagé en masse lors des offensives géantes dites des « quatre planètes » (Uranus, Saturne, Mars et Jupiter) pendant la bataille de Stalingrad. Ce ne fut qu'en 1943 que le char devint majoritaire dans l'Armée rouge, époque à laquelle sa puissance de feu devenait insuffisante.

During the winter of 1942-1943, the T-34 was engaged en masse during the giant offensives known as the four planets (Uranus, Saturn, Mars and Jupiter) during the Battle of Stalingrad. It was not until 1943 that the tank became the majority in the Red Army, at which time its firepower became insufficient.
